How Studiorum uses AI
In effect November 2, 2026
Studiorum uses AI to help teachers teach and students learn, and people stay in charge. Here's what that means for your classroom.
- Teachers decide grades. AI can give student writing a first read against the teacher's own rubric. Every AI-drafted grade waits for the teacher's approval, and students never see a draft.
- Students are told. When AI drafted a grade, the student sees that their teacher started from an AI draft and approved the final version. AI characters are labeled as AI.
- AI helps students think. The Magis tutor guides students toward answers without giving them away, and it never shows a score.
- Safety comes first. If a student mentions self-harm, abuse, or danger in an AI chat, the AI points them to a trusted adult and to crisis lines such as 988.
- No accusations by AI. Studiorum saves how typed answers were written, and students are told. A teacher can ask AI to review that history. A review alone can't prove a student didn't write the work, and it never changes a grade by itself.
- Honest sources. AI-written passages are labeled, and the AI is told never to invent quotations or sources.
- Minimal student data. Names and account details never go to an AI provider, providers can't train on student work, and student features are for ages 13 and up.
- Measured fairness. We compare AI grading with College Board scored samples and publish the results with the model and date. We also test whether AI grading treats English learners fairly.
- Students don't pay for assigned work. Students can purchase personal Studiorum accounts for self-study, but if a Studiorum assignment is assigned to them the cost is borne by the teacher's account.
- Environmental impact is tracked and used in decision making: We understand the concerns around AI's impact on the environment. Because of this, we track environmental impact and make decisions with that information in mind. Environmental impact statements are available for schools with an institutional license.
- Built with all learners in mind: Studiorum includes tools that help teachers reach diverse learners. Activities can be adjusted based on language or reading level.
